My promise to you

The first session is free and you can decide not to pay for any session if you’re not happy with the result. I am confident that you will understand that this prom- ise shows that I care about your right to decide for yourself what you think of the service, the freedom to say no can be as important as having the freedom to say yes. I only ask for payment after the second session has ended, you will receive a payment request later that day and you can then decide to continue if you wish. If you do not pay then therapy ends at that point, all I ask is that you inform me of your choice and the payment request is cancelled.

Confidentiality

All information within the client and therapist relationship is held in strict confidence and no information is made available to others in any form what so ever. I do not record conversations and only keep the very basic information. This information is kept encrypted and secure and can only be viewed by me. My computer has the very latest security software that in- cludes a fire wall and no information I keep is left unen- crypted or available to others. Client confidentiality is strictly recognized as imperative: there is no routine circumstance where your confidentiality would not be unconditional. There can be some exceptional cases when confidentiality cannot be kept: where you could be a danger to yourself, or to others. In such unusual circumstances, you would be informed that I am required to act appropriately in passing that information on if possible. Therapists are required by law to report suspected child abuse or serious neglect and terrorism offences to the ap- propriate authorities. Some therapists promise total confidentiality but forget to inform the client that in truth there is no total confidential- ity as it is not possible to provide it. The truth is no security can be totally secure, all any one can do is reduce the risk as much as is possible to do so. One way to reduce risk is by reducing the amount of in- formation stored or kept on file, one of the reasons why I do not keep detailed information about any client or re- cord therapy sessions is to remove the possibility of a breach of confidentiality as much as is possible to do so.
